This is obviously a very attractive girl. You've appeared to have attained a very good capture of her, with a good pose and angle. The detail with her hair and eyebrows is also very, very good.

I would agree with both Eduardo and DreamTheatrer, in that although you have excellent control with your colours, you perhaps need to spend more time adding more depth to them. The reason for this is because (ironically) you have made such a good detailed approach to this picture, the lack of depth leaves it unfinished.

You can attain this extra depth with more layering of your colours and taking a little time to study the light around and on Ana's face. Careful application of light and shadow can make the weakest image become very 3-dimensional.

Sometimes strong, bright ambient light can make it difficult to decide where the light is actually coming from - if this is the case, then you can often get good results with creating your own simulated source of light - say imagining a strong light hitting your subject from over your left shoulder, if you're right-handed (or your right shoulder, if you're left handed).

I like this picture very much and especially the very real expression on your models' face. Well done Javier +7

Hy,Jesr,I'm fine, thanx.I like her eyes and the upper part of the pic.It needs mor work obviously. It's not bad for beginnig but not for a finished drawing.Try to make more shading with a different color,to make strokes in the different direction.I like her hear, maybe it would pick her out if you'd add hear from her left side too.Keep working and take care:)

the emotion, the shape whatever all well done
if i have to find sth to say about it will be her left eye again....
it seems a little too big, and the "red" at the corner seems to me no needed

Its Your best work. You are getting better and better. But I think you should practice your line.

looks good for the beginning, but i miss one elementary thing... slack drawing with some chic. but it is a question of the time and experience ;) my professor at artschool once said: the work is 3% gift and 97% of toil. you have the first one :) it is not bad, but needs more work...

You got the facial traits very good, especially the look in her eyes. I can't see many flaws. The shoulder seems a bit weird though.
One thing that bothers me: I think the pic is a bit too large. It is hard to focus on it.
I won't critique your way of colouring, as the screen I'm watching this at shows all pics grainy. :p

Mi parte favorita es la eja on the left., Pero ya sabes que necesitas practicar mas, in order to get good at painting skin colors. Tienes el talento so keep trying to get the hang on shading with colors... (LIL TIP)..> erase the sketch lines made with pencil or just go over them with the color. It looks careless if ya dont treat every line of your work like the master piece it self...
(I give ya +5/8 )

Generally I like it. The pose and look of the model is really interesting. Used very well colors and i like it single hair on neck... On your way I would try to concentrate more on the face - try to make it more sharpness - now it's too soft... But as I said before I like it very much - nose, eyes, lips have beautifull shapes - did you have any reference photo or drawing this one from memory? Good job.

Lovely. Really nice and I'm sure the model loves it.

As a non artist the only problem is the lips are not defined enought for me.. but otherwise its excellent..

Top work 8+,

You've done a really good job, the drawing is done quite well. The one thing that I would recommend is when colouring build up the pencil gradually if you are going to change direction of the shading, a lot of the paper colour is coming through :)

Avatar UmbraTheory

 03/02/05 @430

I suggest more definition, especially in the lips and nose area. Overall, good job.

Avatar Poshspice

 03/02/05 @457

You've got some good stuff going on here. I agree though, you need some more definition around the mouth, and don't be affraid to use colour in skin tone, not just 'pink' or 'flesh'. Looking very good though! :)

Ok! Sides, the drawing this one well, but he(she) lacks contrast, zones mas dark cut in I dry for a white of egg, this for ejem in the chin. And in general mas shading, and to define better the edges probably, tries to use mas tones of shade, and mas white(target) in the light. Chow!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi Javier

oukey, your portrait is color, drawing and painting in colors is hard. I think that shadows are very sensitive and dark (black). You will use dark body color (no black)... eyes are the best in this picture, i think but face has not cheeks... sorry my English is very poor

overall this is a very nice pice...but i'd agree with Xris....ur wor needs more depth....a few more shadows...a light source would really make this worth the effort.....also adding more details and texture to parts like he lips..and near the eys....few skin corners would really bring out the subtle factors in ur work......
the red and black on the collar bone look kinda odd..
the eyes are nicely done but stand out too much on the face...loos very cut out....maybe u can add a few dark shades there........
i like this a lot since i do realise the pain that pencils are...:)..all the best...lookin forward to more work from u.

The composition is nice and strong, but your technique is still weak. You have to learn how to add color contrasts and define shapes.

tlfantasyart

 03/02/05 @774

I really like her expression, overall seems well drawn, I think she could use some other colors mixed in carfully to help define the lighter and darker tones...nice work..

Avatar shyamshriram

 03/03/05 @427

Hey nice try :) u should minimise the contrast i mean the black outline of eyes... my suggestion is try to study the features first....i mean the nose...the eyes..the lips...then u can make more beautiful portait than this :)
play more with pencil...draw as much as u can...its endless....keep it up (thumbup)
take care

I jsut looked at your Liv Tyler protrait (I'm assuming that's who that is...) and the pthing about the details applies here as well. Work on adding in shadows and highlights...such as in the eye socket area, the area behind the nose, just under the lower lip, under the chin and jawline...I'd highly reccomend the artwork of a friend of mine as a good example tos tudy. Her name is Linda Imaginee, and her work is on her site, located here: http://www.midtel.net/~imaginee/

 03/03/05 @884

The eyes look good, the rest of the face could do with a bit more defining in my opinion though. Also when you use pencils for shading or colouring, try to follow the contours of the face more so it will look more 3d.
Keep it up though, doing well :)

The eyes have been captured nicely, but if you are doing a portrait, there are some real facial structure issues that neet attention, exmpl. her face is too narrow and pointy. Your work has improved but keep at it! Also, try using a softer color pencil like Prismacolor for a better effect, they blend together nicely.

This is your best portrait thus far. I promised I would comment on one of your peices and chose this one. Your porportions are coming along nicely along the face. They eyes I think you definatly spend allot of time on. I love the sloping of the nose but feel there needs to be some shading in there to help bring it out. The same with those lucious lips! Some color shading would indeed do some justice on your next drawing. I liked the shading through the jawline, feel there could be more in the neck and face maybe for depth?
I LOVE the shoulder and collar bone structure. I would suggest useing a brown and seeing how that feels for shading through the collarbone next time. Though I could be wrong on this.
I absolutely LOVE this peice as it shows GREAT improvement in your drawing skills. Please do keep up the hard work as I am excited to watch your tallents develope and enjoy learning from yours and others works.
Best of luck on the next peice. :) :)

I agree with what most people have said here. This is a wonderful job as is, but generally colored pencils will have more contrasts if you go over it more to fill in all those white spaces. However, if this is your style, well, then go with it. That being said, I love the expression, and the hair turned out really well :)

as others said....the eyes are very good:)

the body and the pose is also interesting
the anatomy seems ok to me but what i've seen at most of your drawings is the small amount of shading

i know i dont really use it either but here you could use a bit more to get a better deffinition on the anatomical elements, e.g. the eyes and the chin

ow and by the way...very beautifull girl
